What's the difference between stump grinding and stump removal?
Stump grinding chips the stump below grade and leaves the roots to decompose naturally. Full stump removal means digging out the entire root ball, which tears up a large area of your yard and costs significantly more. For most residential situations, grinding is the better option — it's faster, cleaner, and less destructive to the surrounding landscape.

Yes, but we recommend waiting and amending the soil first. The wood grindings will decompose and settle over time, temporarily depleting nitrogen in the soil. For best results, excavate the grindings, backfill with fresh soil, and wait a season before planting a new tree in the same spot.
Most individual stumps take 30–60 minutes to grind. Larger stumps or stumps with extensive surface roots take longer. Multi-stump jobs are more efficient because the equipment is already on-site. We'll give you a time estimate during your free assessment.
